Queen’s college of Food Technology and Research foundation, is envisioned as a center of excellence in education and research that will help transform India into a knowledge based society.The objective of this program is to develop highly competent scientists who will provide leadership in academic institutions, or as managers in Food Science research and development institutes, in industry or government.
An attitude of research and a scientific bent of mind are inculcated in every student at QCFT. In fact, research work is compulsory for everyone. To facilitate this there are State of Art Resources & learning materials, tie-ups with reputed national & international research centers.
Research programmes are carried out to tackle location specific problems of different agro-climatic zones of the state of Maharashtra. The changing Food and Agricultural scenario at state, national and global level, national policies and the changing socio-economic structure warrant restructuring and re-orientation of research programmes. The research programmes and activities are constantly and critically reviewed as well the research activities are mainly focused on thrust areas identified.
The basic objective of Research is to constantly improve and generate technologies and methodologies to increase production of processed Foods, Neutraceuticals, Health Foods, Therapeutic foods, Fast Foods, Functional Foods, Organic processed foods, and other Specialty Foods like Space Foods, High altitude foods, Disaster Foods, Medicinal Foods, from the available resources and locally grown Fruits and vegetables.
Our food scientists and industry veterans are ready to assist with research projects such as product formulation and development, problem solving of process and quality issues, and shelf life performance studies. Contracted projects include a comprehensive final report that documents the results in terms of the project’s stated goals. This report can be easily used to support technical sales or for product claims.
Services include: Analytical Services, Food Labeling, In-Plant Technical Assistance, and Finished Product Quality Evaluations.
Research and Development
Personnel, resources, and time limitations often restrict the product development capabilities of an organization. QCFT offers a full range of R&D capabilities to assist companies in developing concept and prototype food products. QCFT scientists working with a company's marketing or R&D group can provide all of the resources required to make new product ideas into product samples. A full range of food products, including breads, biscuits, confectionery, fruits & vegetable products, carbonated beverages, alcoholic beverages, sweet goods, cookies and crackers, as well as novel new products, can be developed. All information is kept confidential and documented to the sponsoring company.
